How To Create Glitter Space Buns
Glitter space buns are a festival classic, they are easy to create, don't require much practice and keep your hair tidy and out of the way all day.
Here is our step-by-step guide to creating the ultimate festival space buns.
Step 1: To create neat and secure space buns, preparation is key, and by preparation, we mean making sure that the hair is smooth to reduce flyaways. To do this, you will first need to use a pintail comb to divide the hair into 2 halves and secure one half out of the way.
Step 2: Take your first half, apply gel around the hairline, and brush through with a brush or comb. Make sure the hairline is completely covered and smoothed through with gel before working the hair up into a high pigtail, in the position you would like the space bun to sit.
Step 3: Repeat this process on the other side, paying attention to the position of the buns being symmetrical.
Step 4: Twist your pigtail and wrap it around the base of your pigtail, securing it with a clear elastic. Then take a bobby pin and secure the bun to the head, teasing it slightly and loosening it so it is the size and shape you are looking for.
Step 5: Repeat this process on the opposite side.
Step 6: Now you have created your two space buns, you can prep your glitter. Take a small amount of glitter base and put it into a tint bowl. Now add your desired amount of glitter and mix with a tint brush.
Step 7: Take your comb and place on your client's parting, this is to prevent glitter from going onto the parting directly and creating a cleaner finished look.
Step 8: Apply your glitter down each side of the parting, you can use as little or as much as you like to create your desired look.
