How To Create A Festival-Inspired Pull Through Braid

 

For those with long hair, be that naturally long hair or extensions, a pull-through braid is a very easy style to learn, as it doesn't require as much fiddly work as something like a dutch braid. It is also a nice style to opt for if you prefer a slightly more “undone” look.

Here is our step-by-step guide on creating fun festival-inspired pull through braids.

Step 1: Gather the top half of your client's hair, and secure it in a high ponytail. It can be helpful to use a bungee here, as these tend to be more secure and have a tighter grip on the hair.

Step 2: Lift your original ponytail out of the way, gather a section of hair around an inch in-depth and secure it underneath your original ponytail with a clear elastic.

Step 3: Continue this all the way down the head until you reach the hairline. You can create as many or as few ponytails as you like, as long as they are all equal in size.

Step 4: Return to your first ponytail and take a small section of hair to wrap around the base of the ponytail, securing with a bobby pin.

Step 5: Split your first ponytail in two, and secure it underneath your second ponytail with a clear elastic.

Step 6: Split your second ponytail in two and secure it under number 3, and repeat this process throughout all of the ponytails until you reach the bottom of the hair and you can secure your final piece with another elastic band.

Step 7: Work your way through each section of the ponytail, loosening it so that each size is even. You can pull at each section to add volume and make your ponytail as big as you would like.

Step 8: Spray your pull-through braid with hairspray to tame any flyaways.

Step 9: Mix up your glitter ready for application by taking a small amount of glitter base and placing it into a tint bowl. Add your glitter and mix with a tint brush. You can now use your tint brush to apply your glitter to each section of the braid, and you can add as much or as little as your desire.
