How To Use Olaplex To Prepare For A Hair Extension Fitting

Making sure that your clients hair is clean before a hair extension fitting is very important, however did you know that product build up cannot always be fully removed with standard shampoos? In order to clean your clients hair fully so that there is no product build up on the hair, it is important to use an intensive treatment like Olaplex Broad Spectrum Chelating Treatment, which is designed to remove harmful particles without damaging hair.

Why is removing build up important for a hair extension fitting?

Removing product build up and ensuring the clients hair is fully clean and dry before the hair extensions fitting will ensure that the hair extensions get a good hold on the hair, and last as long as possible. Fitting hair extensions onto hair that has a high degree of product buildup, in particular silicones which build up on the hair over time, may prevent adhesives fully gripping the hair. Therefore using a treatment such as Olaplex Broad Spectrum Chelating Treatment will give you the confidence to know that you are applying hair extensions to the cleanest canvas possible.

Here is our step by step guide on preparing your clients hair for a hair extension fitting:

Step 1:

We would recommend that you start preparing your clients hair by washing with Olaplex No4c Bond Maintenance Claryifying Shampoo.  This will begin the process of cleaning the hair and removing some product build up whilst keeping the hair healthy and hydrated.

Step 2:

Squeeze the hair to drain excess water, and then section the hair in 2 halves to begin the next portion of your treatment.

Step 3:

Apply Olaplex Broad Spectrum Chelating Treatment to your first section of hair, ensuring it is fully covered and saturated in product.  This treatment is a cortex deep purification treatment that removes cortex level deposits and build ups.  Work your way throughout the head in small sections, to ensure the treatment has been applied evenly throughout.

Step 4:

Leave the treatment for a minimum of 5 minutes, but ideally 15 minutes for a complete treatment cycle.

Step 5:

Rinse the hair, before applying No4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo.  This is a post cleanse treatment, designed to repair and protect the hair from split ends and frizz by relinking broken bonds.

Step 6:

Rinse the shampoo from the hair until the water runs clear, and then dry your clients hair ready for their hair extension fitting.
