BTS for International Womens Day at SimplyHair HQ
International Women's Day is a time to celebrate the incredible contributions of women in our society, and here at SimplyHair HQ we are lucky enough to have a predominantly female team, as well as a female founder, therefore celebrating International Women's day was a must. This year, we wanted to celebrate one team member in particular, and that was our lovely office manager Shelley. We often have team members in the salon to film content, however Shelley is the type of person who would never ask to be in the salon, which is EXACTLY why we wanted to give her the ultimate treat. We wanted to show her just how much we appreciate all she does for us by giving her a full makeover and pamper.
Shelley is a true inspiration to all of us. She is a hard worker, always putting in extra effort to ensure the smooth running of the office, incredibly supportive and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. She has an infectious personality that motivates us all and she is never short of something to chat about. We felt that it was time to show her how much we appreciate her efforts and contributions to the team.
Hair extensions are a great way to enhance natural beauty and boost confidence, and as Shelley has suffered from some natural hair thinning over the past few years, we were super excited to give her this transformation.
Hair thinning is a common concern for women over 50. As we age, our bodies go through a variety of changes, including hormonal shifts that can affect the health of our hair. In women, the hormone oestrogen plays an important role in maintaining healthy hair growth. As oestrogen levels decline during menopause, some women may experience thinning or loss of hair. Other factors that can contribute to hair thinning in women over 50 include genetics, stress, poor nutrition, and certain medical conditions. It's important for women experiencing hair thinning to seek advice from a medical professional, as there may be underlying health issues that need to be addressed.
We chatted with Shelley about her hair history and concerns, and asked her what she would have done to her hair if money was no object. We all agreed to go for a colour refresh and full head of 20” tape hair extensions, and were SO excited to see her transformation.
We started by applying 5N RedKen Shades EQ at her root, and then through the ends, leaving to develop for 20 minutes before washing out using Olaplex 4. We did not use any conditioner, as we would be fitting hair extensions after the colour, and conditioners can create a slippery surface and prevent the hair extensions from securing tightly.
After the hair was dried and straightened, we applied a full head of 20 inch tape hair extensions, in colour 2 throughout, and then some 4/6 around the front to lift the colour slightly and frame the face.
We also brought in a makeup artist for the day to make Shelley feel extra special, before treating her to a photoshoot in the salon with the team.
Shelley was an absolutely amazing sport, and we hope felt as good as she looked on her special day. We love you Shelley!
