The Ultimate Olaplex Hair Extension Maintenance

Olaplex is long known to produce incredible results in improving overall hair health and appearance, and this could not be truer than when used on hair extensions. As hair extensions are often processed to create their unique range of colours, and receive no natural oils from the scalp during their wear, giving them some extra TLC during maintenance appointments can go a long way in improving the overall appearance of the hair, as well as increasing the duration of time the hair extensions can be worn. 

We would recommend following this treatment plan at the end of your maintenance session, after the bonds/ tracks have been tightened, to leave your client feeling like they have had a luxury pamper during their maintenance appointment, resulting in the hair extensions that not only feel tight and secure, but also look and feel like new.

Step1: No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment

Start your treatment with the No.0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment. Squeeze the excess water from the hair ready for No.8. Infused with patented OLAPLEX Bond Building technology, this product will add instant shine and noticeable smoothness to your clients extensions as a highly concentrated reparative mask. We would recommend starting with 2 pumps of the product, and then adding more should the hair be particularly thick or long. Apply to the mid lengths and ends only, and allow to sit on the hair for a full 10 minutes.

Step 2: No.3 Hair Perfector

Once your No.0 has been left on the hair for 10 minutes, without rinsing the product out, apply No.3 Hair Perfector over the top. When used in combination for No.0, this has been scientifically proven to produce 68% more repair & 3 x stronger hair. Apply to the mid lengths and the ends where you have applied your No.0, fully saturating the hair, and continuing to leave for a further 10 minutes.

Step 3: No.4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

Now that you have left your No.3 for a full 10 minutes, it’s time to rinse and wash the product from the hair. As you have only applied the product to the mid lengths and ends you can limit the washing process to the same areas, however for styling purposes we would recommend a full wash of the hair. Bond Maintenance shampoo repairs and protects the hair from split ends and frizz by re-linking broken bonds, and is proven to reduce breakage and strengthen hair. No4 is an excellent shampoo to increase the longevity of your hair extensions and highly recommended.

 

Step 4: No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

Now it’s time to condition the mid lengths and ends with No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. It is important to ONLY apply to the mid lengths and ends, as this is a conditioning treatment and therefore the bonds should be avoided. Leave the treatment on for a minimum of 3 minutes before rinsing the product thoroughly. Much like the shampoo, the Olaplex conditioner relinks broken bonds to leave the hair stronger, healthier and shinier.

Step 5: No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask

Squeeze the excess water from the hair ready for No.8. Infused with patented OLAPLEX Bond Building technology, this product will add instant shine and noticeable smoothness to your clients extensions as a highly concentrated reparative mask. We would recommend starting with 2 pumps of the product, and then adding more should the hair be particularly thick or long. Apply to the mid lengths and ends only, and allow to sit on the hair for a full 10 minutes.

Step 6: No.6 Bond Smoother and No.7 Bonding Oil

For the final stage of the treatment we are using a cocktail of No.6 and No.7 for the ultimate finish. No.6 will help to condition, strengthen and smooth the hair, without adding any excess weight, whilst No.7 will increase softness, shine and colour vibrancy, along with controlling any unwanted flyaway and frizz. Combine a pea sized amount of No.6 and 1-2 drops of No.7 to damp hair and comb through to spread the product evenly, ensuring to only apply to the mid lengths and ends. For clients with naturally frizzy hair or lots of flyaways, you can very carefully also apply to the top layer of the hair once you have established your clients parting to smooth and tame flyaway and frizz. You are now ready to dry and style your clients extensions, leaving her walking out of your salon with hair extensions that look stunning and feel even softer than the day they were fitted.
